Evaluation of EU-Turkey relations in the context of climate diplomacy

Fight against climate change has become a multifaceted discipline around the United Nations processes and has contributed to the development of global climate governance and climate diplomacy. In this study, the defining processes around global climate governance, especially the 2015 Paris Agreement will be analyzed. The study will examine the European Union (EU)'s normative leadership dynamics as an actor in global climate governance around the EU's climate diplomacy roadmap and long term climate policies. The study will monitor Turkey's climate policies developing around Europeanization tendency through the process tracing method and will focus on the concrete benefits that Turkey can provide centered around its sustainable development goals. As an area where bilateral dialogue can be strengthened, the study will discuss the role of climate diplomacy in EU-Türkiye relations to contribute to the fields of environmental policies and European studies.
