Abstract (EN)
Throughout this thesis, a comperative experimental study on insulation ofventilating ducts used in air conditioning systems has been done. Glasswool withaluminum foil on its one surface which is one of insulation materials used forventilating ducts, and paints with ceramic additives as an alternative materialhave been examining experimentally. During the experimental study a turbulentflow has been generated in ventilating ducts and experiments have been doneunder this condition. In these experiments heat and acceleration of air at the inlet and outlet ofinsulated ventilating ducts have been measured. It has been observed that theair heated and released to ambient during the experiments does not change theambient temperature and relative humidity. In the experimental studyhumidification and dehumidification processes have not been applied to the air.Only through an electrical serpentine heater with resistance, flowing air in theducts has been heated.Data derived from the experiment have been transformed into comparativegraphics, heat dissipations of the ducts have been examined and it has beenvinferenced that glasswool as an insulation material provides more effective heatinsulation. Cost analysis of heat insulation materials, used in the experiment, has been done.Science Code : 914.1.065Key Words : Ventilating duct, heat insulation, ceramic additive paint, vacuumed micro ceramic spheresPage Number : 88Adviser : Prof.Dr. Ö.Ercan ATAER
