Özet (EN)

This thesis work aims to make a deep research on power-domination-individual relations correlated with history, sociology, physiology, art history, artists and art practices. In the thesis, firstly the concept of modernity, modernism, postmodernism and their impacts on the society and the individuality have been discussed. Secondly, the concept of power, the idea of domination and their controlling mechanisms on individuals have been analysed. Then the reflections of power-domination-individual relations on both modern art and contemporary ceramics have been evaluated. Finally; conceptual, aesthetic and plastic personal quests regarding this context have been explained. Analysis of power dominance is not important only for understanding its controlling mechanisms on society but also for observing how it shapes the identities of the individuals. As being a part of social and cultural movements, artists could not keep themselves out of this type of relations. If art lost its revolutionary position, it could easily turn into a popular way of expressions and this situation could disturb its means of being disappointingly. Therefore, maintenance of the fine arts' autonomous and liberal structure mean also the preservation of social memory, visual and written recollections, individual and social independencies, individual rights, freedom of expression, cultural identities and social sensitiveness.
