Abstract (EN)

The idea that there is no legitimate authority to consult other than reason, which started in the West, was the main reason why positive sciences are the dominant science. In this period, economics, which tried to imitate the science of physics in an effort to become an original science, started to use the mathematical language while explaining its theory and policies. In this period when rationality (mind) was the main determinant, the first effort of economics was to bring homoeconomicus (economic individual) to a universal structure based on the basic assumptions of rationality and selfishness. Acting in line with these two assumptions, it is accepted that the purpose of the economic individual is to maximize its utility. Behavioral economics, which emerged with an emphasis on cognitive constraints, draws attention to the neglected issues in mainstream economics' definition of the individual and argues that these considerations should be included in the analysis. Thus, he suggests that the validity of existing theories will increase even more. In this study, the rational individual assumption of mainstream economics has been analyzed with an experimental study based on behavioral economics theory. In addition, from the results obtained from the experiment, the law of demand, the theory of revealed preferences and the effects of price on men's product selection were also analyzed. The statistical significance of the obtained data was subjected to the Chi-Square test. As a result of the experiment, it was seen that people moved away from the assumption of rational individual acting with pure mind by developing different perceptions even if the same situation occurred at decision moments, including in economic situations.
