E-mentoring model for maintaining the provincial education inspectors and assistant inspectors? professional development

In this research it was aimed to find out the benefits of e-mentoring model in maintaining the provincial state educational inspectors?and assistant inspectors' professional development. Primarily, the web-site (www.e-mentorum. com) in which all the activities are carried out was designed and launched. At the beginning of literature review and the application, learning materials related to eight learning content on which was decided in accordance with the wishes of the users of the application web site were completed and uploaded on the mentioned web site. There are three user groups in the web site; administor, e-mentor, the mente. 59 members of Elazığ, Malatya, Bingöl state educational inspectors and assistant inspectors joined the research between the years 2011- 2012. In the research, academicians, experienced state educational inspectors and the other state educational inspectors, assistant inspectors and the researcher were nominated as succesively e-mentor, mente and administor. Orientation courses about the research were organized for the applications. The research was carried out in experimental pattern and single test, pre-test, post-tests were used. . First-two-week was evaluated in itself with the purpose of ensuring orientation properly and finding out and solving possible technical problems. To determine the effect of e-mentoring application on the state educational inspectors and assistant inspectors? success , achievement test was used whereas to determine the effect on the attitudes towards computer, internet, e-learning, e-mentoring, attitude scale was used to collect data.In the next steps, pre-test of achievement test and attitude scales were carried out. After the ten-week- research period, post-test of achievement test and attitude scales were applied and interview forms which were designed to determine whether the state educational inspectors and the assistant inspectors? perceptions changed or not.At the end of the research, at the level of analyzing the quantitative data, related samples, t-test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Mann Whitney U test were used. Qualitative data was analyzed by using content analysis method with the help of NVivo 9.2 qualitative research software. It was found out that e-mentoring application provide positive contribution to the state educational inspectors and assistant inspectors? success and attitude towards computer, internet, e-learning, e-mentoring. . The change of the state educational inspectors and assistant inspectors? perceptions about e-mentoring application was mentioned in the findings. Some of the utterances of participants were given without making any changings. . According to their views, it was concluded that they obtained important benefits and experiences in spite of their heavy workload and shortage of time.
