The research on social media usage habits of special provincial administration employees: the case of Batman Provincial Administration

The aim of this research is to determine the social media usage habits of the staff working in the local administrations and to determine the results of the evaluation and to propose solutions for social media usage. "Survey Form for Investigation of Social Media Usage in Local Administrations" was applied to the personnel working in local administrations. Descriptive scanning model was used in the study. The universe of the research was formed in 2017 by the personnel who worked in Batman Provincial Administration. In the sample of the study, simple random sampling method was used. Within the rated sample of the study 321 available surveys were obtained. In this research, "Survey Form for Investigation of Social Media Usage in Local Administrations" developed by Vural and Bat (2010) was used as data collection tool. The data obtained in the questionnaire was evaluated using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program. Percentage, mean and standard deviation were used in the evaluation of the data. Also with Multiple Response method and One Way ANOVA analysis, Tukey test and Correlation Analysis - Bivariate method were used of Post Hoc tests. According to the results obtained by the study; there is a significant difference in social habits according to age. There is no significant difference according to gender, marital status and institutional relativity. It was determined that employees in the survey have a positive and high attitude towards social media. The frequency of internet usage and social media use; the time spent on the internet and the time spent on the social media were found to be positively correlated.
