Application of kanban system for packaging materials in the pharmaceutical sector

Lean Manufacturing makes use of a range of tools that are easy to improve quality and prepare and reduce production and eliminate waste. The Kanban system is one of these tools. However, Kanban system has not been widely implemented by manufacturers in Turkey. Clearing, remain one of the aims of this case study is to prove how Kanban can be effectively implemented in a company focused on the pharmaceutical industry. Here, and Turkey has been a pazarar markets in various countries, operating in the pharmaceutical sector, there is a domestic company Kanban system for packaging materials used. The process of providing service related to the kanban method applied was improved and the profitability of the company was improved by saving from the losses that it paid extra cost from the corporate logistics activities that did not inset worth to the wastable option. Kanban method pre-procurement process, orders opened for packaging materials in production. He had daily, irregular vehicle shipments for non-production-dependent emergencies. In the current application; conditions such as wear and tear due to waiting times of excess stock material, retained packaging materials; return to the company as unnecessary cost. Orders opened for packaging materials were received in bulk and for daily urgent needs depending on the production, our plans were delivered from the supplier and transported to the company. With this study, procurement processes are easy to manage and assist in dealing with procurement processes accurately. The findings of the action show that senior management participation, vendor and address participation, inventory management and quality improvement are important in simplifying the Kanban system.
