Abstract (EN)

Comparingthesuccess of intubation on a model betweenMacintoshlaryngoscopeandgumelasticbougie, whichareboth of theintubationmethods, performedbymedicalinternstudentswhohavenopreviousintubationexperienceduringtheemergencyrotations. Thestudyconducted in a prospective, crossovermanner. At thebeginningonehour of cardiopulmonaryresuscitation (CPR) will be explainedtheoreticallyandintubationwith Macintosh laryngoscopeandwithgumelasticbougiewill be explainedpractically on the model totheinterndoctorswhoaredoing an Emergencyrotation at Gaziantep Universityforeducationalpurposes. Then, eachinterndoctorparticipating in thestudywillhavebothtechniquesapplied at least 3 times. Aftercompletingthetheoreticalandpracticaltraining, eachinterndoctorwillhavebothtechniquesappliedagainthreetimes. Theapplication of bothmethodswill be evaluatedandrecordedaccordingtothecriteria in thechecklistcreatedbytheresearchers (duration of intubation, intubationattempt/complication, dentalfracture, number of manipulations, ease of use, firstattemptsuccess rate andoverallsuccess rate). 150 (81%) volunteerinterndoctorswereincluded in thestudy. Averageage is 24.7, 52% aremale. Theaverageapplication time accordingtothenumber of interventionswasfoundto be significantlylower in GEB (p<0,05). Successfultrachealintubation rate with GEB (365 (81.11%); 317 (70.44%); respectively) is statisticallyhigherthan MAC(p: 0,001).Esophagealintubationwith MAC (112 (24.89%); 71 (15.78%); respectively) anddentalfraction (143 (31.78%); 102 (22.67%); respectively) accordingto GEB statisticallysignificantlyhigher(p: 0,001). Whenthefirstintubationattemptsuccess rate wascompared, GEB wasfoundto be superior (78%; 64%; respectively) (p: 0,001). Laryngealmanipulationwasperformedstatisticallysignificantlylessfrequently in endotrachealintubationperformedwith GEB (45 (10%); 120 (26.67%); respectively) (p:0.001). Itwasdeterminedthattherewasnostatisticallysignificantdifferencebetweentheoverallintubationsuccessrates of bothtechniques (p:0,125) Theaddition of the ETE methodusing GEB tothetrainingmodels of bothinternstudentsandhealthcareprofessionalswhoperformpre-hospitaland in-hospitalintubationmaycontributetotheincrease in intubationsuccess rate, shorter time, lessneedforexternallaryngealmanipulationandfewercomplications.
