The relationship between communication skills and etiquette rules: A research on university students

The world has changed a lot in the last century. Life is now much more complex, more stressful, more challenging. Rapid changes in society and digitalization raise a very important question. Are the rules of etiquette still valid today? No matter how great the change, these records are a common feature of societies of continued prosperity throughout history. Today, peace in societies is decreasing and incidents of violence are increasing. These rules play an important role in interpersonal relationships and directly indicate communication processes. In the research, the positive contribution of communication and etiquette breaks was analyzed. A good research model was used in the study. It was analyzed with a descriptive survey design. During the data collection process, a survey was conducted with 250 communication faculty students, most of them face to face. The findings show that good manners, especially communication, can make a positive contribution. This study contributes to the communication literature and provides a framework to make interpersonal communication more respectful.
