Abstract (EN)
In the settlement area of Ilgın district, located in the 1st degree earthquake zone in the northwest of Konya, cohesion and non-cohesion soils on the basic units and their saturation with ground water cause important soil problems. These problems vary depending on the soil being tight-loose, the groundwater being close to the surface, the chemical property of the groundwater, the soil grain size distribution, the clay content of the ground, the presence of an impermeable cover layer on the upper surface and the value of the pore water pressure. It is known that cohesion free soils cause many ground problems such as loss of bearing capacity, flow, slip, excessive settling, liquefaction and similar effects due to groundwater and earthquake effects. Within the framework of these predictions, the properties of soils in the study area were investigated in accordance with the principles of soil mechanics and engineering, with the stress approach using field methods such as Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and related laboratory tests. As a result of laboratory tests, it was determined that the carrying capacity was between 0.74 kg / cm2 and 1.59 kg / cm2, the sitting amount was between 8.31 cm and 17.41 cm and the liquefaction energy potential was high. In the light of these data, it was found that carrying area, settlement and liquefaction problems of the study area. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the structures depending on the obtained values. In addition, improvements to the static conditions of existing structures should be made to minimize possible earthquake damage.
