Sports awareness of primary and secondary school administrators examining the levels

This study was conducted to examine the awareness levels of school principals and assistant school principals working in different primary and secondary public schools within the body of the Rize Provincial Directorate of National Education in the 2019-2020 academic year. General screening model was used in the research. The sample of the study consists of 242 school administrators selected by simple random sampling method, working in primary and secondary public schools in Rize Provincial Directorate of National Education. In order to collect the necessary data in the study, the "Sport Awareness Scale" was used. Krusukal-Wallis H test and Mann-Whitney U test were used in the analysis of the data. Bonferroni correction test, one of the multiple comparison tests, was used for pairwise comparison of groups with significant differences. Statistically, the error level was accepted as p<.05 and the significance level was Alpha (α). Based on the answers given by the participating school administrators to the scale questions at the end of the study; It was determined that the sports awareness levels of the managers in terms of all sub-dimensions of the scale were above medium. It was determined that they agreed with the items of the scale "I think sports are beneficial for the development of children" and "I think sports contribute to the socialization of people" with more points. İn addition, male school administrators are more likely to be married than to single school administrators, school administrators who are in the 36-40 age range more than administrators in other age groups, graduate school administrators are more likely to have school administrators whose children are interested in sports than administrators from other education groups. The school administrators who do not have a physical education teacher at their school participate more than the administrators who are not interested in sports, more than the administrators who do not have a relationship with sports, more than the school administrators who have a physical education teacher at their school, and less participation in the sports activities of the school administrators who participate in 5 or more sports activities It has been determined that the school administrators are more aware of sports than the school administrators who provide. In addition, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the gender and the managers participating in the school sports federation activities with more teams, but not in other variables.
