Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to receive opinions of primary school teachers about the contribution of the use of drama technique im maths courses to the students? basic skills in maths in 2006-2007 educational yearIn the research,qualitative research design was used. The scope of the research consists of primary school teachers working in schools in Düzce in 2006-2007. It was conducted with 298 teachers from 29 primary schools in Düzce.In order to collect the data, a questionnaire was prepared by the researcher under the supervision of a specialist.Speciaists? ideas were received for the validity and the reliability of the questionnaire. To measure the reliability of the questionnaire, `Cronbach Alpha? was calculated and the coefficient of reliability was ? =89. The questionnaire. concerning the teachers? opinions about the use of drama technique to have students acquire basic skills in maths courses include 54 items and it consists of 4 dimensions. These are problem solving,communication,inferencing and association. In the problem solving part there are 12 items and its reliability is ? =83.4. In communication part there are 16 items and its reliability is ? =67.9.In inferencing part there are 13 items and its reliability is ? =69.In association part there are 13 items and its reliability is ? =82.1.In the research, interview was used as additional control questions about the results of the questionnaire concerning teachers? opinions about the use of drama technique for having students acquire basic skills in maths courses. As samples 7 teachers were randomly chosen among primary school teachers. The data of the research was collected with the technique of semi- constructed interview. In order to do this, teacher interview forms consisting of 7 questions were prepared by the researcher. The interview form was put into application by receiving specialists? opinions. The interviews were analyzed and transferred to the computer, and by assigning a number to each line interview inventory form was prepared. After interview inventories,interview coding keys were prepared.The results of the research can be summarized as follows;1- It was found that teachers agreed on the contribution of drama technique to the skills of problem solving, association and inference within the scope of the research.2- Primary school teachers stated their opinion that they `strongly agreed? on the contribution of using drama technique to students? problem solving skill in maths courses.3- Primary school teachers stated their opinion that they `agreed? on the contribution of using drama technique to students? communicative skill.4- Primary school teachers stated their opinion that they `agreed? on the contribution of using drama technique to students? skill of association.5- Primary school teachers stated their opinion that they `strongly agreed? on the contribution of using drama technique to students? inference skill .Key words: Maths Course,Maths Course Basic Skills,Drama
