Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to present how motivation strategies, which are used by teachers in the visual arts applications during the first stage of primary education, effect the artistic achievement of students.For research, one of third classroom was chosen at the first stage of a primary school related to Ministry of Education in the 2010-2011 school year spring term in Çankaya in Ankara. At the research ?Convenience Sampling? is used, which is one of the ?Purposal Sampling?.Descriptive method has been used in the research. In this method, period has been planned through lesson plans which is developed by researcher. The lesson plans include particularly motivation strategies which is used by teacher. Data sources required for the research are the paintings which has been drawn by the students during two-week application. ?Painting Inspection Method? has been used as data collection technique. Data analysis has been performed through evaluations carried out for paintings of students. Evaluations of these paintings have been carried out by three specialists by giving points according to obvious criteria. These criteria are enough to quantify the artistic achievement of students and constitute sub-problems of research.At the first stage of primary education, appropriate motivation strategies used by teacher at visual arts applications have positive effects on artistic achievement of students. Within the lights of the findings and the results that have been obtained, several proposals have been presented for the extensification and development of using motivation strategies in visual arts applications and about scientific researches which could be made in the future.Keywords: Visual arts education, art education, motivation
