Significance of speaking skilss at second Turkish language teaching and ways to improve

ABSTRACT Desire for talking has been existed since mankind is created. If this skill is developed, people can communicate easily. This education should be given to the children at primary school. In this study, the importance of speaking skill at the second part of the education and the ways how to develop it are tried to be explained. First of all, the general aims of Turkish teaching and teaching the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are mentioned. After the language, communication and the concepts of speaking are explained generally, speaking skills with its varieties and the elements are dealt with. After speaking disorders and faults are expressed, its relation with the brain is dealt with. The relation of speaking with the social life is mentioned. After the importance of speaking well and impressively are explained, the factors that effect this skill are dealt with. The study to develop the secondary school students' speaking skill is offered. This study, to develop description skills of students includes some kinds of verbal description exercies; talking on a book, a film or a TV program; asking students to explain a proverb, a saying, to tell about the curiosity of students, the objects they have been created, the opinions about the future and the problems of Turkey; greeting; asking for an address, giving an address; expressing how to go somewhere, talking on the phone; interviewing, describing a person; opening and presenting speaking, acting exercises and skill games. In addition to the exercises of unprepared speaking, the parts of speaking with preparation and how to prepare a speech are tried to be explained with examples.
