Analysis of quotedvocabulariesfromfree reading texts in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish language textbooks

Thedatasource of thisstudy is freereadingtexts in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th gradeTurkishtextbooks of primaryeducation. Thestudy is based on thecontentanalysis of thedatacombinedthroughthedocumentreview. İn theresearch, allthewordsused in thetextswerescanned in thebrowserandtransferredtopdf format firstandthentowordandexcelformatsrespectivelyfor data filtering. Theirregularity of theTurkishandcitedwords in thetexts is takenintoconsideration. At theend of thestudy, the 100 mostfrequentlyrepeatedwords in thetextsarelisted. Whenstudyingtherepetitiveuse of words in theresult of thestudy, 17% of the 2482 words in the 5th sentence (423); 15% of the 2322 words in the 6th grade (358); 16% of the 2477 words in the 7th class (400); Inthe 8th grade, it wasseenthat 17% of the 2061 words (356) werequotedwords. In general terms, in thecontext of thefindingsobtainedfromtheexamination, it wasfoundthatthefreereadingtexts in the 5th, 6th, 7th and8th gradeTurkishtextbooks of elementaryschoolclearlyshowedinconsistencybetweeneachother in terms of citationwordexistence; Some of thetextshavebeenfoundto be light in terms of thenumber of quotedwords, andsomeareveryheavywhenconsideringstudentlevel. Inthisrespect, it has beenconcludedthatthetexts in thetextbooksgenerally do not complywiththesub-objectives of theTurkishteachingprograms on foreignwords.
