Abstract (EN)

We have seen a great deal of improvement in every field in this century. Today people has achieved many things that they weren't able to imagine fifty years ago.Surely these improvements have also affected the education systems closely.States have to consider the needs, reqirements of the age in the process of establishing the education systems and objectives.Performing the Social Science courses according to the principles ,making the students equipped with skills and make them use these skills in their lives are equivalent to 'A Vigorous Turkish Republic' today. All of the courses that take place at schools are certainly very important. However, the importance of the Social Science courses desiring to form well-qualified and productive citizens is understood better when we take the objectives of this course into consideration. This study presents a detailed evaluation of the coursebooks that are indispensable elements for education and the visual materials that are essential elements for the coursebooks.Firstly, the literature is searched and then the visual materials used in Social Science coursebooks of the Ministry of Education are described. At the end of the evaluation it is seen that there is a close correspondence between the visual materials used in the coursebooks and the principles of the course. On the other hand, there are some problems on some pages as a result of the lack of printing quality and on some other pages because of the visual materials that are white or black.
