Abstract (EN)

Technology and science continuously developed and changed in 21.century and all countries needed to advanced and renew their education system in order to come up with these revaluations. If teachers affect students? scientist schemas or perceptions in positive and realistic way and also increase students? attention on science carrier, it is needed to do more investigation about students? scientist perception. Primary school students? ideas about scientists will affect influence their attitudes on science and give direction toward their carrier. In the current study, a convenient and purposive sample consisted of primary school 6, 7 and 8th class students who educated in the center of Ankara in 2005 ? 2006. Because the number of school was very high, sample?s scores generalized to the population in the conclusion of the analyzing procure. Samples were from Gülhane İlköğretim Okulu 6-A, 7-F and 8-D classes in 2005 ? 2006 terms. In this study, DAST (Draw A Scientist Test) improved by Chambers is used to determine thoughts of primary school 6, 7 and 8th class students about scientists DAST is an unstructured test prepared to get knowledge about students? attitudes towards scientists. . Furthermore in this research, a questionnaire, consists of 47 questions, was produced from literature survey data. The other research instruments used to collect data for this study were 10 open-ended questionnaire and interview applied to 30 students. Totally 3 tests and 1 interview were applied. Statistically significant results showed that students generally assimilated the fixed characteristics which are integrated with science and scientist. A man scientist with laboratory dress, glasses, works too much and devotes himself only his job was described by students. Together with this, the recent study reached different results from the literature.
