Identification of the multiple intelligence areas of students studying in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of primary schools

The research was done in accordance with Multiply Intelligence Theory to identify the development of different intelligence areas of students studying in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of Emine Mustafa Humanızlı, Ali Tutkun and Kılıçarslan Primary Schools. The cosmos of this study is comprised of 1401 students studying at these primary schools. 737 students were surveyed in May-June, 2010 as a sampling group. 53.1% of all students are comprised of girls, 35,3% are 13 years old, 47,1% have been studying in the 6th grade, 69,9% have middle-income, 85,9% were born in Gaziantep, 49% have 4-6 siblings and 76,6% have nuclear families.It is stated that 66,5% of all students are not able to attend social acitivities, 58,9% spend 1-2 hours by watching TV, 80,7% just live with their parents, 18,6% are employed after school, 30,3% are sick very often, 62% have a meal three times a day, and 21% wish to be a teacher. 73,5% of all students have an intermediate advanced, 13,8% have a little advanced and 12,2% have an advanced verbal intelligence. 58,5% have an intermediate advanced and 27,5% have an advanced mathematical intelligence. 45,3% have an intermediate advanced , 32,8% have a little advanced and 19,3 % have an advanced visual intelligence. 64,6% have an intermediate advanced, 20,5% have a little advanced and 14,2% have an advanced musical intelligence. 74,2% have an intermediate advanced, 12,8% have a little advanced and 11,9% have an advanced natural intelligence. 38,8% have a little advanced, 31,1% have an intermediate advanced, 29,4% have an advanced social intelligence. 51,7% have an intermediate advanced, and 23,7% have an advanced bodily intelligence. 48,2% have an advanced and 34,9% have an intermediate advanced internal intelligence.A meaningful relation was identified statistically in the distribution of the intelligence areas of students among genders, class level, socio-ecenomic situation, attendance to social activities, the most having lived places of students.Key Words: Multiply ıntelligence, Multiple Intelligence Areas, Multiple Intelligence Inventory, the Level of Development.
