Primary 6.7. and 8 th grade students study habi̇ts relationship between social studies course against the attitude of academic achievement

This research has been carried out to reveal the relationship between study habits of secondary school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades and Social Studies academic achievement. The research is a scanning that has been conducted on 730 of 2 secondary schools in 2012-2013 academic year. The first of information gathering tools used in the study has been developed by Ulugh, which is called "Study Habits Inventory". With the second tool, the "Information Form", has been used to collect the students' personal information. The frequency and percentage tables have been made by using the students' personal information, such as gender, class, age, trying to get assistance, mother and father's educational level. As an indicator of academic achievement of Social Studies, in the second period at the end of the academic year 2012-2013, report card grades have been used. Related tables have been generated by calculating grade point averages and scores obtained from study habits inventory and academic achievement. Due to the fact that the resulting normality of distribution (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) test isn't normally distributed, the data has been tested with non-parametric tests. The first aim of the research is to examine whether study habits inventory scores of the students show meaningful differences according to the variables. As a result of the findings, girls' study habits inventory scores have been higher than those of boys, and it has been found that the differences between them are significant. As a result of the comparison according to grade levels, it has seemed that study habits inventory of the highest average scores are in the sixth grades, on the other hand, the lowest average has been in the eighth grade and it has found significant differences between grade levels. As a result of the comparison between mother's educational level, father's educational level and receiving assistance while studying, the scores study habits inventory haven't demonstrated significant differences. The second goal is to examine whether achievement of the students in Social Studies show a substantial difference according to the variables. The level of academic achievement in Social Studies has been in favor of sixth grades at class levels, while the situation has been in favor of those whose parents have a low education level. Therefore, a significant relationship has been found at the middle level between academic achievement in Social Studies and study habits inventory scores. The Academic Success Grades which has been third problem, has been examined whether they change considerably accordige tho the factors. The study habits inventory scores which have been the forth subproblem has been examined a significant relatianship has been found at the middle level between academic achievementn in Social Studies and study habits inventory scores.
