Effect to academic achivement of using layered curriculum in primary schools? 6th and 7th degree science lesson

With this study, the effect of the layered curriculum in Science and Technology Subject to the academic achievement for 6th and 7th grade students in primary education was analyzed. The research was involved 4 different groups of students from a private primary school in Afyonkarahisar, in the 2008?2009 academic year.Pretest ? posttest control group model (the model of pretest ? posttest with control group) and action research were used in this research. The pretest and posttest were used as a measurement instruments. Also, as well as layered curriculum measurement instruments, the assessment contains with the received opinions of the students were developed.The results received from developed measurement instruments were subjected to statistical analyses individually and the averages of the groups and level of significance were analyzed. The significance level is assumed as .05. The ?t? test was used for the comparison of the scores which the measurement instruments had given. Also, opinions obtained from assessment were analyzed with NVivo7 computer programme.According to this research, the academic success of the three of the layered curriculum experiment groups was higher than the conventional methods groups. Only for one of the groups, applying the conventional methods increased the level of succession. The reason of that were the extra scholastic factors such as the training centers and the private lessons.
