The effect of the science and technology course supported by learning objects on the sixth grade students? academic achievement

This research is an experimental study aimed to search the effect of science and technology course supported by learning objects on the sixth grade students? academic achievement and the retention of the course.This research was applied to the 6 th grade students of Altınçağ Primary School in the district of Dörtyol, Antakya in 2010-2011 Academic Year second half-term. Before applying of experimental study, two 6th grade classes were chosen with randomly method. Then, one of the class defined as ?experiment group? and the other class defined as ?control group?. The experiment group has thirty five students and the control group has thirty eight students. While traditional method was applied for the control group, the material suported by learning objects was applied for the experiment group.In this research, Science and Technology Achievement Test was applied in order to determine the acedemic achievement of the students and the retention of the course. Furthermore, a test of attitudes towards Computer was applied so that the students? attitudes towards computer could effect the success of the lesson applied by computer assissted instruction. At the end of this study, material evaluation form was applied in order to evaluate the prepared material.The data of this study were evaluated by using SPSS 1.60 Windows software. According to the results obtained from this study, it was observed that there was a significant difference in favour of experiment group between academical achievement of post-test score for control group and experiment group on the unit of ?Systems of our Body?.
