Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is reviewing the effect of the teaching by using virtual museum visit in ?Travel in history of Turkish? unit of Primary Education 7th grade social studies course on student?s academic success.?Pre- test Post- test control group model? was chosen for this research. The research was given to the students that educating in 7-E and 7-C classes of Battal Gazi Primary Scholl in Ankara in 2011- 2012 education year. 43 students from experiment (n= 27) and from control (n= 26) participated to the work which had equality from the characteristics of students. Pre-test and Post- test which were developed by the researcher were used as the data collection tool as an achievement test. Application was carried out by the researcher in the classroom. Mevlana Virtual Museum, İstanbul Sea Virtual Museum, Topkapı Palace Virtual Museum, Hagia Sophia Virtual Museum, Rahmi Koç Virtual Museum, and Ziraat Bank Virtual Museum, which offer three dimensional virtual museum visit opportunity on the internet, was chosen as the application area related to the theme of the thesis. Quantiative datums are evaluated with using t-test analises for dependent and independent groups that participate in SPSS statistic programme.According to the general result obtained in this study: there is a significant difference on academic success of the students of the experimental group and the control group. Virtual museum visits effected the increasing success of the students of experimental group.Key Words: Virtual Museum, Virtual Museum Visit, Social Science Teaching.
