An evaluation of the acquisition levels of the values stated in the 7th grade social sciences curriculum from the point of view of the students

The study was carried out to evaluate the acquisition levels of the values stated in the 7th grade Social Sciences Curriculum from the point of view of the students.The study group was comprised of 505 students enrolled at a primary school in the province of Kastamonu, Turkey. One-group pre-test post-test design was utilized in study. The pre-test was performed at the beginning of the academic year and the post-test was performed at the end of the academic year. ?Personal Information Form? and ?An Attitude Scale Prepared Regarding the Values Stated In the 7th Grade Social Sciences Curriculum? were used as data collection tools. The suitability of the data for the factor analysis were determined through Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett's Test for Equality of Variances and validity and reliability tests were carried out regarding the scale. In the pilot test the KMO coefficient was found .80. The final form of the scale was prepared in line with the suggestions of experts and to determine the construct validity of the scale a factor analysis was carried out. According to the results of factor analysis, it was found out that the scale had a single factor. It was observed that the item-total values of the items in the scale ranged from .38 to .81. The Cronbach?s Alpha value of the attitude scale was .93, and two semi-test correlation was found .92. After preparing the final form, the scale was implemented to the study group.
