Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is searching effects of problem based learning on the subject of `` algebraic Expositions and Equations?? in 7th grade students in elementary school. The research was designed based on experimental pre-test post test model. The sample of research is the students who are attending in a primary school in Devrekani, Kastamonu and the groups includes 46 7th grade students on 2009-2010 academic year. The number of experiment and control groups is the same. In experiment group, the lessons are studied using problem based learning model, in control group, the lessons are studied using traditional model. In the research, qalitative and qualitative methods are used. Two tests prepared for the two subject which each includes 30 questions are evaluated in a SPSS 15.0 packet programme. At the end of the study, the forms are delivered to the students for the purpose of self-evaluation, evaluating the teacher and the process of PBL. At the end of the research, there is not a meaningful difference between experiment and control group in the post-test results. At the end of the process, students? participation in the maths lesson increases positively. Students evaluated the process with evaluation forms.Key Words: Algebraic expositions, equations, problem based learning
