Effect of the primary school 8th graders? parents? attitude towards psychomotor skills level and the attitudes toward physical education lessons

The aim of this research is finding out the correlation between the effect of the primary school 8th graders? parents? attitude towards psychomotor skills level and the attitudes toward physical education lessons and comparing the data in the light of some demographic variables.Research group is consisted of 113 female and 116 male, totally 229 people, attending physical education course at 7 different schools in 8th grade in Aksaray province.In order to have the demographic variables, personal information form is used. When defining parents attitudes, ABSÖ( ie. Mother- Father Styles Scale) , developed by Sumer and Gungor (1999) and finalized by the additional items, is used. For defining the attitude towards Physical Education lesson, the Attitude Scale of Physical Education Lesson, developed by Gullu (2007) is used. In order to define the psychomotor skills of the students, the following tests are applied: For flexibility sit- reach test, vertical jumping test, stopped- long jump test, throwing a medicine ball (2 kg), agility (Z) test, 20mt speed test and reaction test (visual- auditory).In the research the general information are given about the concept of the education, physical education, parents attitudes and psychomotor skills and the correlation between these and researches about the subject matters.As the result of the research, its seen that the parents attitudes cannot predict the psychomotor skills and the physical education lesson attitudes at the desired level, however students positive attitudes towards the physical education lesson.
