The investigation of cognitive levels of 8th grade primary school students on the subjects of energy and energy sources

The purpose of the study is to investigate 8th grade students? cognitive level about energy and energy sources. Efficient use of energy, energy conservation topics are included of national education curriculum, and more children receive primary and secondary education in the curriculum and, the concept of energy and energy is given systematically at the early levels of education program.An achievement test consisting of 30 questions was prepared for the purpose of how much the topics actually reach the goals, what level students perceive these issues and what level students give importance to these issues. The sample of the study consisted of 410 eighth grade students from 13 primary schools in the Kastamonu city. According to the findings of the research, students living in the apartment sites have students higher achievement scores than students living the single houses. The students' achievement scores increased when the education level of the family increased. To the achievement scores of students taking private courses or private tutoring is found to be higher than that the students who do not get any extra help.
