Özet (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate eighth class students attitude toward science and the effect on their achievement in relating it with everyday life. 162 eighth class students from various schools in Ankara participated to this research. In this research in order to determine students level of relating science with everyday life achievement test and in order to determine their attitude toward science attitude scale was used. By taking into consideration science program content, its goals, student acquisitions and expert opinions an achievement test was prepared which consist of four-choice 30 multiple-choice questions in physics, chemistry and biology fields. In order to investigate the reliability and validity of this test a pilot study was performed to 77 eighth class students. For the aim of measuring the reliability of the data obtained from the study, SPSS 11.5 package program was used. Reliability coefficient was found out as 0.78. As a result of this research it is observed that male students attitudes toward science are more positive than female students whereas female students achievement in relating science with everyday life is higher than male students. Beside this it is also observed that correlation between male students attitudes toward science and their achievement in relating science with everyday life is much more higher than female students.The findings shows a positive medium level relation between eighth class students attitudes toward science and students achievement in relating science with everyday life.
