Primary school 8th grade students skills of using punctuation

This study has been made in order to detect how useful drama method is in using punctuation correctly and effectively by 8th grade students.Ankara province, Etimesgut district, Nasreddin Hoca Primary school 8th grade students make up the study environment. The participants consist of 60 students, 30 as pilot and 30 as control group.İn this research, an examination was done mainly about conceptual skeleton and depending on punctuations usage differenses in education-instruction (depending on conceptual skeleton). Thanks to acguired information/data, basic approaches were defined in teachingand application of punctuations. Also, the researches were done about drama method and exercises were prepared about punctuation with drama method.To concretize the results and to evaluate the acquired findings, the application was done to groups. Preliminary test was applied to both groups. The subject was told to pilot group by drama method and control group was released in process. Then final test was applied to both groups. Research model is preliminary-final test with control group model. İn analysing the results, SPSS 15.0 was used.İn conclusion, thanks to these detections, suggestions were presented to operators.According to survey findings, a significant difference is found in thestudents' learning levels in favour of the groups which had the grammar lessons of punctuation in drama method. Taking this fact into account it is concluded that in the 8th grade Turkish lessons, teaching punctuation in drama method has a positive effect on students' learning levels.Key words: Turkish language teaching, grammar, punctuation, method, drama.
