Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the grammar component of elementary school 6th grade Turkish Course syllabus in the light of teachers? point of views. In addition to this overall objective of the study, elementary school 6th grade teachers? perspectives about students? grammar acquisition, class activities, methods, techniques, materials and lastly, testing and evaluation were investigated.This is a descriptive study. The research was conducted in the academic year of 2006-2007, in Seyhan and Yüreğir; the administrative districts of Adana. 151 Turkish Language teachers working in 75 elementary schools participated in the study. As data collection tools, a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview form were used.According to the results of the study, teachers found that acquisition was in line with students? language development. Also, the results showed that teachers used suggested activities in the program in their classes and they preferred easily accessible materials. Lastly, teachers said that they used lecturing and question-answer technique in their classes.
