The Teaching methods, used by social studies teachers for the history units in the social studies of the sixth grade at the elementary schools

Ill SUMMARY In this survey, the methods of teaching in which the teachers of primary sixth class social studies employed has been dwelled upon. The objective of this study is to determine the methods in which the teachers employ in conducting the units of primary sixth class social studies and to detect the reasons of being unable to conduct varieties in methods. In the first part of this survey, a problem has been defined and sub- problems have been given and the importance of the survey and related publications and related surveys have been pointed out. In the second part, the teaching methods which are used in the survey have been explained. In the third part, the model of survey, universe and sampling, general information about teachers and students, medium of data collection, data collecting, data analysis and interpretation of data have been dwelled upon. In the fourth part, findings and interpretations related to sub-problems have been dealt with, results and suggestions have been explained. In the scale of attitude, there have been 33 expressions whose validity and reliability have been tested in advance. Random method has been employed in the application of this scale. The scale of attitude has been conducted in the city center of Ankara which are Çankaya, Keçiören, Yenimahalle district primary schools and 86 teachers and 290 students participated in the questionnaire. In the scope of this survey, the questionnaire which was developed by the researcher has been conducted. In the identification information of teachers frequency and percentage, whether or not there has been a difference between the views of teachers and students have been checked with t-test.
