The aim of this study is to give moral values education to the 5th grader students in primary schools, and to show the effectiveness of this program via ethical maturity and aggression scales.

The aim of this study is to give moral values education to the 5th grader students in primary schools, and to show the effectiveness of this program via ethical maturity and aggression scales.To reach this target, the moral values program is prepared upon Masnavi by Rumi with respect to Turkish culture. This research was applied to the students in Halil Türkkan Primary School in Tuzla District of Istanbul city. A total number of 30 students with low points of ethical maturity level took place in the study, of whom 15 as the experiment group and the other 15 as the check group. The research period was between February 15 and May 30, 2008. This research was completed as a thesis report in December 2008.After deciding on the ethical maturity and aggression scales to be applied, the student group was picked. The experiment and check groups were picked unbiased. It was statistically tested that the groups were identical. 15 students in the experiment group were given human values education during 33 sessions. On the contrary, the check group was not given any education.The findings of the research can be summarized as follows:1.There is a meaningful difference between the results of the ethical maturity scale pretest and final test given to the experiment group. The difference rests on the side of the final test. No such difference exists for the check group.2.According to the results of the ethical maturity scale final tests given to the experiment and check groups, the meaningful difference which rests on the side of the experiment group shows the efficiency of our program.3.There is a meaningful difference between the results of the aggression scale pretest and final test given to the experiment group. The difference rests on the side of the final test. No such difference exists for the check group.4.According to the results of aggression scale final tests given to the experiment and check groups, the meaningful difference which rests on the side of experiment group shows the efficiency of our program.The data received from human values education proves that this program is effective in developing ethical maturity levels and decreasing the level of aggression in 5th graders in primary school.
