The measurement of deformity foot and ankle with podoscop, who are in elementary school

The aim of the study is to appraise of deformity foot and ankle on children, who are in elementary school. The research includes 105 male, 82 female totally 187 voluntary children, who are between 5 and 15 years old in elementery school. They have been selected from between nursery school's and eighth class students in Karabük Merkez Atatürk Elementery School. Individuals have been evaluated in their school. At the beginning of the assesment a questionnaire form, which asks the demographic informations, complaints about the lower-extremities, diseases or accidents happened in the last 5 years, has been filled by face-to-face interviewing students. Furthermore range of motion, sensitivity testing, muscle testing, evaluation of muscle shortness, antropometric measurements of foot and lower extremities heve been done. After that with the podoscop and feiss line method, pes planus and pes cavus were evaluated. Talipes varus and valgus degrees were measured by using goniometer of podoscop. By evaluating hallux valgus, hammer finger, paw finger and transvers arch decreasing, if there is, hallux valgus degree are measured. At the end of the research, according to result of measurement with podoscop it's obtained that 83.5 % are normal, 1 1.0 % are l°Pes planus, 4.3 % are 2° Pes planus,1.2 % are 3° Pes planus infemale, 79.5 % are normal, 14.3 % are l°Pes planus, 6.2 % are 2° Pes planus,0.5 % are 3° Pes planus in male. Acording to result of feiss line method it's obtained that 0.6 % are normal, 82.0 % are l°Pes planus 15.3 % are 2°Pes planus, 1.2 % are 3° Pes planus in female and it's obtained 82.4 % are 1° Pes planus, 16.1 % are 2° Pes planus,1.5 % are 3° Pes planus in male but there is no normal person in male. It's obtained that the methods of podoscop and feiss line of normal and 1° Pes Planus evaluations are different but 2° and 3° Pes Planus evaluations aren't different. At the end of the research hammer finger, paw finger, pes cavus, transvers arch decreasing and talipes varus weren't determined.
