The Research Of Fourth And Fifth Grade Primary School Students?Critical Thinking Levels In Social Studies LessonsAccording To Different VariablesMehmet Kaan DEMİRThe aim of this dissertation is to observe the fourth and fifth grade primaryschool students? critical thinking levels through different variables. The problemsentence of the dissertation: Does the cirital thinking level of the student, who arebeing educated in the fourth and fifth degree primary school classes, differmeaningfully according to the variables such as; student?s classroom, sex of student-teacher, type of the school, number of the students in classroom, the social studiescurriculum that is applied, success status of the students in the social studies lessons,their classroom teachers? democratical behaviour levels?The population of this emphasizing work is formed by fourth and fifth gradestudents of the primary schools dependent to the National Education Associationdirectorships in the centre towns within Ankara Motropolis Municipal borders. Thesample of the research which is brought out by using proportional group sampling isconsisted of fourth and fifth grade students of 20 primary schools which aredependent to these National Education Association directorships. For observations,another data collecting technique, four of the 20 which are the sample of thisresearch, is chosen randomly.Results of dissertation generally revealed significant difference betweenfourth and fifth grade primary school students? critical thinking levels in socialstudies lessons with student?s classroom, sex of student-teacher, type of the school,number of the students in classroom, the social studies curriculum that is applied,success status of the students in the social studies lessons, their classroom teachers?democratical behaviour levels.Key Words: Elementary school, social studies, critical thinking
