Abstract (EN)

11 ABSTRACT This research under the title of "Examination of Science-Technology-Society Subjects in the Science Teaching Books for Primary Education" is made in order to study the ratio of STS subjects as compared with the whole science subjects in the Science Teaching Books for Primary Education ( for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th classes ) ; their way of handling, and approaches of science teachers and intern teachers towards the relations between the Science Technology and Society. STS subjects are determined in accordance with Piel's classification. The results of the research indicate that the STS subjects are included 5.8% the 4th class science books; 8% the 5th class science books; 14.2% the 6th class science books; 25.3% the 7th class science books and 10.1% the 8th class science books respectively. Out of the total explanations in all the science books, 12.2% is devoted to STS subjects. In order to determine the views of the teachers and intern teachers on the STS subjects an evaluation method named VOSTS devised by Glen Aikenhead is used.lt is found that the interns are more sensitive in subjects as society's affecting the science and technology; reciprocally affecting of science and technology the sosciety; and matters wich are within the scope of the nature of the science.
