The study of the second phase school songs in the primary education in the suitability for students

Musical education is of the great effectiveness in many features, almost in every period of mankind from his birth to his death. It is possible to mention about many functions of the musical lessons for the secoünd phase student in the primary schools.School songs are the basic steps in the musical education. However the school songs which are thought to the primary school students, these songs must be in high quality in supporting the students? education in different aspects.The aim of this study is to determine whether the songs are suitable for the students in various waysi by studying the school songs in thi school books for musics lessons in the primary shool which underwent great changes between 2007-2008 educational years in the frarme of the curriculum.30 school songs which are chosen in the frame of this thesis aiming at 6,7 and 8 th grade students in the primary schools, books of musics lessons have been studied in terms of theme, rhytm, tone, form, sound limitation, prozody rules, actual words, suitability of the song words for children, hormony with the musical instruments and the suitability of the songs in the changing world.Besides, many interviews and a face to face survey have been carried out with the musics teachers who live in Sakarya city and their ideas have been taken into consideration. Also, 3 of the schools in the center of Sakarya city were chosen and interviewed with the students and a survey has been carried out.The result of the studies which were implemented as follows:The school songs have the primary importance in the musics lessons in primary schools. Musics teachers and the second phase primary school students have stated that the school songs are not chosen properly for the students. As a result of the study of the school songs, it cannot be said that the chosen school songs are suitable for the primary school students.And olso the school songs are very hard for the musics teacher as well because of their quality in musical education. Due to the above mentioned facts; it has been judged that the school songs for the second phase students in the primary schools must be studied and chosen carefully in various aspects by thinking these school songs affect the growing periods of these children and the choice of the school songs must be taken into consideration in many aspects.The most important aim of this thesis is to show the ways for the studies of the school songs to be carried out in the future.
