In this research, determining the relation between academic success and the level of the learned helplessness of the 6th-8th grades of primary school students is aimed.The study is carried out on the 8th grade students who study in Konak, the district in İzmir in 2006?2007 education year. The research is carried out on 364 students from eight primary school which are choosen at random in Konak. In the research, Depressive Attributional Style Questionnaire are used as a means of collectig data.Findings that we have by using statistical analysis can be summed up like this:1- Academic self perceptions and academic success of the 6th-8th grades of primary school students make clear the variation related to the learned helplessness variable at the rate of %10,3. According to this result we can say that %10,3 percent of ?Learned Helplessness? fact is related with ?Academic Self? and ?Academic Success?2- It ıs seen that the relation between the level of learned helplessness and the academic success of the students who participated to the research is negative. As a resault it is seen that when the academic success of the 6th-8th grades of primary school students is risen, the level of the learned helplessness is decreased. On the other hand when their academic success is decreased, their level of learned helplessness is risen.
