Abstract (EN)

This investigation has been made to ascertain the role of Turkish teachers? on the development? of verbal and written expression skills and reading and listening talents of the primary school second level students? according to constructive approach.The individual associates and combines newly acquired data with her previous knowledge; examines the whole information and constructs her knowledge in her brain. Unification of new information and previous knowledge differs for all students. That?s why the student must develop her own learning method and she must process the information in accordance with her potential. The teacher?s role on that process is just acting as a guide. A teacher is like the North Star, he does not tell where his student goes, but helps her to find her way. The roles of Turkish teachers are endeavoured to be introduced in that research.The investigation has been applied to fifty-three Turkish teachers working in Cekmekoy, where is located in the Anatolian side of Istanbul / Turkey but fifty-two teachers results are considered in order that one of the questionnaires is not fulfilled. Collected data have been analyzed with SPSS packaged software.Attitudes of teachers which generate their roles on the development of verbal and written expression skills and reading and listening talents of primary school-second level students? according to constructive approach, have been investigated with regard to the teachers? genders, education levels, total teaching durations and attendance to in service trainings.Data has been collected with the scale of ?The Role of Turkish Teachers? on Lingual Development According to Constructive Approach? which has been developed by the researcher. Reliability of the scale provided with using test-retest method and calculating Cronbach alfa internal consistency index of the scale. Statistically significant differences haven?t been found between two calculation results of the draft scale which has been implemented with a month break (p>0.05, N= 35, t=-0.199). This result can be assumed as an adequate proof for the relevance of the scale.The survey has been implemented to teachers one to one, via visiting them in their own schools Necessary clarifications have been made during the implementation of fifty-one questioned survey.The scale of The Role of Turkish Teachers? on Lingual Development According to Constructive Approach has four sub dimensions. These are listening, speaking, reading and written expression skills. Data have been commented based on % (percentile), t-test, Mann Whitney-U, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kruskal Wallis tests.As the result of the investigation; it is found out that the roles of Turkish teachers? on the development? of verbal and written expression skills and reading and listening talents of primary school-second level students? according to constructive approach, is not significantly diverse with regard to the teachers? genders, education levels, total teaching durations and attendance to in service trainings.Key Words: Constructive approach, listening, speaking, reading and written expression
