Abstract (EN)

The overall objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between primary school students' mathematics achievement, overall achievement, motivation towards mathematics, attitudes and mathematics anxiety.In this study, the relational inferring model is used. It is researched with 262 students out of 350 who are from 6 primary public schools in Kirsehir in the second term of 2010-2011 academic year. Three scales were used for data collection in the research. One is Bindak (2005 - developed by the Mathematics Anxiety Scale), the other is Askar (1986 - developed by the Mathematics Attitude Scale), and the last scale is Büyüköztürk (2010 - developed by the Motivation Scale). To analyze collected data, descriptive statistics t-test (Independent Samples T-test), Pearson's analysis of Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used.Emerging research findings;According to the results of analysis, second grade students? attitudes and anxiety towards mathematics don?t show significant difference between genders. However, motivation towards mathematics shows significant difference between genders and it is in favor of boys. Furthermore, they are found that there is a high level positive relationship between mathematics scores and general scores of students, there is a middle level negative relationship between mathematics scores and mathematics anxiety, and there is a middle level positive relationship between mathematics scores and motivation towards mathematics, and between mathematics scores and attitudes towards mathematics. Also, there is a significant high level negative relationship between motivation towards mathematics and mathematics anxiety of students, and between mathematics anxiety and students? attitudes towards mathematics. Furthermore, it is found that there is a middle level positive relationship between students? motivation and attitudes towards mathematics. Besides, students? anxiety, attitude and motivation show significant difference between grade levels.
