Teaching of the tense suffixes and their functions at the second level of primary education

Abstract (EN)

At that study first of all the works of some poets and authors that are known to be using Turkish quite well had been researched and the function of the tense suffixes in their works had been identified. Afterwards the time suffixes that the second level students of primary education use in their written expressions, and the time suffixes taking place at the Turkish lecture books for the second level of primary education had been identified, and their usage frequencies and usage rates had been calculated. Thus the tense suffixes that the second level students of primary education use, and the frequencies and the rates that they use these tense suffixes had been detected. The same work had been applied for the Turkish lecture books. The purpose here is to attain the outcomes that may provide guidance for the teaching of the tense suffixes systematically at the grammar teaching, which is an assisting and supporting field for Turkish teaching.The study had been conducted on 450 students from 5 primary schools in Ankara Province. The students had been asked to present their written expressions. In addition the texts taking place at the Turkish lecture books being used at these schools had been exploited. The findings obtained from the written expressions of the students and the findings obtained from the Turkish lecture books had been compared. As a result it had been put forward whether or not the tense suffixes taking place at the researched works of the concerned poets and the authors are being used at the written expressions of the students and at the Turkish lecture books.As a result it had been seen that some of these tense suffixes have barely been used or have never been used at the written expressions of the students and at the texts taking place at the Turkish lecture books. Correspondingly, some suggestions had been made for making the students comprehend the tense suffixes at grammar teaching, and the issues that shall be observed concerning the tense suffixes that shall take place at the Turkish lecture books had been emphasized.Keywords: Turkish Teaching, grammar, grammar teaching, tense, tense suffixes, function, Turkish lecture book, written expression.
