Both parent?shome enviroment, parentel background, the way parents support reading activities,the interest the child has towards reading materials wert compare.The application was resumed in 2 state schools in Europen side of İstanbulwith 146 second grade student and families.As a result of the research, the mum?s reading with their children in the earlychildhood period has an effect the child?s reading development but during the schooltime or the child?s interest of written material hasn?t an effect in the child?sdevelopment of the reading skills.Besides, the child?s either possitive or negative attitude towards reading hasan effect on child?s comphrension level.ii
