Abstract (EN)
This study has been conducted to determine whether the objectives of numbers learning area in grades 3rd to 5th in the Primary School Mathematics Education Program (PSMEP) are in accord with NCTM K?5 number-operation standards and objectives of Singapore Primary School Mathematics Education Program (SPSME).Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM) K-5th class numbers and operations standards which was published by NCTM was divided into 3 main categories and 29 sub-categories by applying content analysis. Analysis sub-units have been obtained by determining the behaviors in order to achieve the standards in 29 sub-categories. Objectives of PSMEP grades 3rd to 5th numbers teaching area have been placed into 29 sub-categories by taking the explanations and activities into consideration. Each objective has been determined whether it complies with PSSM standards on the basis of analysis units in the categories. In order to state the class level number restrictions in PSSM, Michigan State objectives have also been included in the analysis. The objectives of PSMEP have been determined whether they are in accordance with the objectives of SPSME. In the light of the expert opinions taken from 16 mathematics educator the validity and the reliability of the categories were checked and corrections have been made according to these findings. At the end of the research, numbers learning area objectives in PSMEP grades 3rd to 5th have been found not to be completely in accord with PSSM K?5 grades number and operation standards and found in formal accord with SPSME objectives.
