Evaluation of primary school math teachers' competence of worksheet enhancement on transformation geometry and their views on worksheets

This study aims to analyze primary school Math teachers' competence of worksheet enhancement on transformation geometry and evaluate their views on those worksheets. For that purpose, case study model is used, which is one of the qualitative reasearch methods. The participants of this study are 28 math teachers, 14 being male and 14 being female, currently working at secondary schools in Ağrı city center and its counties. The data of this study is obtained by the worksheets that the participants have prepared after the practice and semi-structured interview forms. The 28 worksheets on transformation geometry consisting of 141 pages that the teachers designed are assessed by document analysis method. The data obtained by the semi-structured interview forms is analysed by descriptive analysis method. The results acquired from data collection tools are analyzed by two experts separately and the coherency percentages are calculated. The findings of this study suggest that teachers generally make use of the worksheets during teaching sessions and assessment. Teachers state that they create worksheets in order to reinforce the subject and for the students to see different types of questions. It is broadly observed that participant teachers do not involve subject related activities/exercises in their worksheet development. It is also determined that the teachers include multiple-choice questions, not different question types such as true/false or gap-filling activities in their worksheets when it comes to assessment. The worksheets created about transformation geometry's sub learning outcomes such as reflexion, parallel displacement and reflexion with parallel displacement are graded by "Worksheet Assessment Key" and are identified as on the upper limit of "improvable" level in general average of worksheets. Based on these results, certain suggestions have been made about worksheet enhancement on transformation geometry.
