Abstract (EN)

The importance of mathematics and geometry, which is an important branch of mathematics cannot be ignored in these days, called the age of information and technology. The aim of the is the determination of the existing knowledge levels of primary mathematics education undergraduate students in the subjects of mixed and vector multiplication and their attitudes and self-efficacy towards analytical geometry and the examination in terms of various variables. At the same time, it is aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge level in mixed and vector product issues and attitude and self-efficacy towards analytical geometry. The sample of the research consists of 2nd year undergraduate students studying at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Education Elementary Mathematics Teaching Program in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Six different sub-problems were determined in line with the purpose of the study. In this study, general scanning model was preferred. In this context, singular scanning model was used in the process of applying the content knowledge achievement test on mixed and vector multiplication, and the relational scanning model was used in the process of applying the analytical geometry attitude and self-efficacy scale. Two different data collection tools were used to shape the study. The first of these is the 30-item "Mixed and Vector Multiplication Success Test", developed by the researcher, which aims to examine the content knowledge of pre-service teachers on mixed and vector multiplication. The second data collection tool whose aim is to determine undergraduate students' views on analytical geometry was "Analytical Geometry Attitude and Self-Efficacy" scale, which was developed by Ilgün, Azak and Takunyacı (2012). IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 package program was used for data analysis. In the analysis of the data, the frequency distribution, descriptive statistics, correlation and independent samples-t test were used. As a result of the study, the answers given by undergraduate students to the mixed and vector multiplication achievement test and analytical geometry attitude and self-efficacy scale were examined, and in this context, it was determined that undergraduate students were successful in vector product and mixed product. Another result obtained from the research is that it was concluded that the mixed and vector multiplication success scores of the students didn't have a significant difference according to the gender variable. When the average scores of the pre-service teachers' general views on analytical geometry were examined, it was understood that they were at a high level. When examined in terms of sub-dimensions of the attitude and self-efficacy scale, it was concluded that the self-efficacy and success requirement was high, but the difficulty sub-dimension was at a medium level. The other result of the study is that while students' views on analytical geometry didn't differ significantly according to gender variable, similarly, it was found that each sub-dimension didn't have a significant difference according to gender. According to the result of the last sub-problem of the study, it was seen that there was a high level, positive and significant relationship between the students' level of learning about the subject of mixed and vector product and their attitude towards analytical geometry and self-efficacy levels.
