The effect managers of primary schools on the use of information tecnology for education at school

The leadership duty of the fullfillment of instructions about the Information Tecnology classes which have been set up by the Ministry of National Education and using of these classes properly behoves on the headmasters of the Primary Schools. In this study; the influence of Primary School Managers on the utilization of Information Technology on the process of integrating technology in education was anallyzed.This research was carried on 8 Primary Schools, 7 of which were Public Schools ,one of which was a private school and all of which have got IT classes in Ankara in 2007-2008 academic year. 19 managers of these schools were surveyed. 13 of these managers and 15 teachers who are working at these schools were individually interviewed. Qualitative research technique was used in this study. In the analysis of the data frequency and percent statistics techniques were used.By this research it was observed that the school managers had positive opinions on the utilization of Informatin Technologies and their role in education, and the effect of the IT classes on teachers and students, however it was also observed that they have negative opinion on the facilities of hardware and software at schools and in-service training..By this research, in order for the school managers to fullfill their duty and responsibilities on the process of integration of IT, the in-service training about this subject must be given with a content which will be more effective for the managers.
