Suggestion of a ceramics education programme aimed at primary schools

In our country, the ceramics education in art faculties and high schools have found their places. On the other hand, ceramics education have not yet taken its special place in primary schools. This thesis, titled ?Suggestion of a Ceramics Education Programme aimed at Primary Schools? intends to present a proposal for families and schools about ceramics education that is believed to be very supportive on primary students? creativity and their physical and mental development.A sample programme, which has been prepared in collaboration with ?D.E.U. 75. Yıl Primary School?, was presented to Izmir National Education Board. As a result of this programme was accepted to be given as courses to I. and II. grade students under the name of ?Technology Design?. After the technical equipments were supplied such as ateliers, firstly ceramics was introduce, and then the course of ceramics making and its techniques were applied. Finally, an exhibition was opened consisting students? works at the gallery of D.E.U. Fine Arts Faculty and all the work was exhibited to school principles, academics and families.At the end of this research, I believe that by preparing an appropriate programme, ceramics education could be given at primary schools and it is possible to encourage young students to get involved with arts of ceramics so that they may choose this art field as their future occupation.
