Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to observe perception levels of elementary school teachers with regard to organizational commitment. Perception levels of teachers were analyzed depending on the varieties of gender, age, marital status, branch, professional seniority, teaching status and education status. Opinions from elementary teachers in 6 schools in the city centre, 66 schools in the villages were obtained using the scanning model and examined by the researcher.In the study, developed by Meyer and Allen (1984) and adapted to Turkish by Boylu, Pelit, Güçer (2007), ?Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ)? was used in order to measure the perception of elementary school teachers with regard to organizational commitment. The organizational commitment in the questionnaire was analyzed in three categories; emotional commitment, continuation commitment, and normative commitment.Data obtained through the research aims were resolved using the appropriate SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) statistical techniques. During the analysis of the data; frequency, mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test and one-way analysis ofvariance were conducted. Post Hoc analysis was used to determine the diversity of opinions among the participants in case of occurrence.Depending on the findings, the perception of elementary school teachers with regard to organizational commitment is generally on ?unstable? level (X=3,34). Organizational commitment didn?t make significant difference in terms of gender and marital status. Depending on the findings, it was concluded that there is a significant difference on emotional commitment levels between permanent teachers and paid service teachers and between substitute teachers and contracted teachers. On the organizational commitment of continuation level there is a significant difference between permanent teachers and substitute teachers and between contracted teachers and substitute teachers. On the level of organizational commitment of normative level, there is a significant difference between permanent teachers and paid service teachers.Key Words: Organization, Organizational Commitment, Emotional Commitment, Normative Commitment, Continuation Commitment.
