The comparison of the emphatic skill levels of administrators and the teachers at primary schools (Kartal pattern)

This research has been done both comparing the emphatic skill levels of administrators and the teachers charged in primary schools and also contributing their social level of communication. The pattern of this research has been formed by (260) administrators (61)and the teachers(199) working at primary schools in 2009-2010 Education Year in the province of İstanbul and the district Kartal. The Personal Data form which contains information about the administrators and the teachers, ?The Emphatic Skill Scale- B Form? which determines the emphatic skill levels of the administrators and the teachers have been used to obtain the data related to the research. The data have been evaluated by the help of SPSS 15 Packet Program. Frequency and percentage distributions, Mann-Whitney U Test, ?t? test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, One -way Analysis Of Variance have been used to analyse the obtained data. 0,05 has been used as significance level, it is emphasized equal variance in the case of p<0,05 and it is unequal variance in the case of p>0,05.As a result of the research, it is found that; there is a meaningful differences between the emphatic skill levels of the administrators and the teachers who are charged at primary schools with the variances such as; the school they work, professional seniority, age, the state of having child, the state of the number among the siblings in the family and the place where the childhood were spent.It has been determined that; the emphatic skill levels of the administrators and the teachers haven?t changed at a significant level according to the variances: the institution or high school where is worked, administrative function, administrative seniority, master degree on the field of administration, gender, graduation, faculty, selecting the job willingly, branch, the year of work at school, title, the number of different institutions worked, occupation satisfaction, marital status, the state of partner?s occupation, the place where your partner works, the state of the partner?s education, the number of child, personal development education, communication education, peace, using internet, expressing the wrong ones, to be open to the criticism, having interested in fine arts and music, to pay attention to the problems of the others, motherhood attitude of the mother, fatherhood attitude of the father.These results have been denoting that the emphatic skill levels of the administrators and the teacher may vary according to the personal and the demographical characteristics.KEY WORDS: Empathy, Emphatic skill, Communication, Administrator, Teacher, School
