The teacher's opinions about the reward and the punishment in getting the expected behaviours in elementary scools

Expected attitudes are aimed to be seen in both classroom and school enviconment and in the students.Teachers desire that the students show the expected attitudes in both class and outside.They also want that these attitudes repeat and later turn into habits.To achieve this goal,reinforcement should be inchided.İt is a more efficient method than reward and punishment in the occurence of expected attitudes.This research has been launched to show teachers' ideas on how reward and punishment are used in the reinforcement of expected attitudes.200 teachers who have been working in primary schools in İstanbul in 2007-2008 Education-Teachig Term constitute this research.İn the first part of this survey,there is a form composed of 9 personel questions which inchude demographic variables.İn the second part,there are 30 questions which aim to determine the effects of reward and punishment on the reinforcement of expected attitudes.SPSS statistias programme was used in the solution of the data obtained from the surveys practised to the guineas.İn the analysis of the data,by scientific statistics,were made the hertz (N), the percent (%), the average (X) and the standard swervings(SS).For gender,for primary school stage at which the teachers worked and for the branch variables,was made t-test analysis.To determine if there is a difference among the variables of group related to the age, the year of degree, the lesson hours which the teacher completed, the level of education, the explanation of rules and the preparation of the rules together, was used one-way variance (ANOVA)analysis.For the obtained data, were formed tables and later these tables were explained.According to the data which were obtained from the survey, it was seen that the teachers regard using reward and punishment in repeating the expected attitudes as efficiently in correcting the behanviours of the students.İn addition to this, it was seen that the teachers regard using reward as more efficient than using punishment.At the end of the survey,were improved proposals in the light of the data which were obtained from this survey.
