Teaching of the subject of Ottoman culture and civilization in social knowledge lessons at primary schools

We here, considering the school of social knowledges lesson at 7 classes in primary schools, concantrated on how to teach it. As our subject ottoman culture and civilization in the introduction part, we gave the definition of history,benefits and teaching of history and the aims of Turkish National Education. İn the first chapter after doing a little comparision, the books that are allawed to be studied at primary schools in social knowledge lessons, the book, that is social knowledges 7 is taken as a limit in our search and critically studied as both visual elements and especially the unit's implicit by vs. İn the second chapter we gave a placo the teaching of our subject, in this part we concantrated on the related subject's teaching best with which method technigue and strategy. According to the subject; meaning, discussion, role play, sample event, dramatization, group works data-show, video, map, picture, graphic, dictionary,encycloppedia etc, are used and with these, we tried to show how it cauld be presented. During our study; we bene fited some articles, works and trans lations and pre ferring describing search procedure we used systematic observation form as a knowladge collect tecnigue. The received data after search proued some lacks in the preparation of the lesson books and their physical state and contents, meanwhile teachers also have some sharts comings in teaching of the subject. İt is seen that our teachers still keep on teaching withaut getting bene fits from the techigues mentioned above.
