The wiews of teachers about the functioning of team works in elementary schools (in Sakarya)

Key Words: Team, Team Work, Group, Quality, Productivity The studies for increasing the quality and productivity have been started and these concepts have become into discussion in educational institutions as in the other sectors. Team works have been canducted to solve current or canfronted problems in the name of increasing and improving quality and productivity in schools. While team works are done, a lot of problems that influence the functioning of teams occur. The aim of this research is to determine the teachers' opinions concerning the level of team works in elementary schools and to find solutions about the functioning of team works. In the first part of this research theoretical knowledge, problem sentence, sub-problems, limitations and restictions about TQM application and team works in education are considered. In the second part the insvestigations about the subject are emphasized. In the third part there are model of the research method, the pattern of universe investigation, the illustration of the research, the tools of data collection and the information presented under the titles of data analysis. The research data are collected by means of the questionnaire developed by the researcher directed towards the team works applied in schools after a wide literature scanning. In the research, the fivefold likert scale is used to determine the participation level of subjects in the questions which were asked to determine the functioning level and problems of team works. The findings and interpretations about the research appear in the fourth part. The data obtained are analized by means of SPSS method, frequency and percentage analysis, t test are used. The functioning of team works in elementary schools are found to be in medium level. In respect to team works, significant difference is found among the subjects who worked less than 5 years and more than 5 years in the same school. No significant difference is found among the other variables. In the last part of this research solutions directed towards the functioning of the teams and problems. vui
